We have time and time again raised awareness over the fact that Dr. Phil is airing unscientific and potentially dangerous misinformation about transgender identities. Truth Wins Out an organization that defends LGBT people against anti-gay lies, and the "ex-gay" myth has put out a press release condemning the recent show on transgender children on Dr. Phil.
"Truth Wins Out (TWO) harshly condemned the Dr. Phil Show today, claiming that it exploited Toni, the mother of a transgender child, and placed her in a psychologically abusive situation – which nearly drove her to tears. The episode, “Little Boy Lost,” also falsely portrayed notorious anti-gay activists, Glenn Stanton and Dr. Joseph Nicolosi, as “experts” on gender and homosexuality, says TWO.Enough is enough! It is time to boycott Dr. Phil and stop his lies against the LGBT community.
“Dr. Phil damaged his reputation by choosing sensationalism over professionalism and he ought to be ashamed,” said Wayne Besen, Executive Director of Truth Wins Out. “Instead of exploring this issue in-depth, Dr. Phil sunk to new depths. He exploited a loving mother by ambushing her with disreputable anti-gay activists well known for theories far outside mainstream psychology."

hm, iono. in the show about prop 8, he seemed to be biased towards the no on 8 side, which I guess is good?
While the show you talk about may have been a bad decision on his part, I would want more proof that he choose them with the intent of misinformation before I go calling out boycotts.

As Erik (above) said, Dr. Phil has seemed quite pro gay on occasion. Good for him. Please don't settle for so little though. I hate it when one part of the LGBTQ community is ready to sell another section down the river for the chance of a scrap of tolerance thrown there way.
Woop-de-doo, Dr Phil, you were against prop 8. You want a cookie for that? Get your head out of your arse and stop thinking paying lipservice to gay rights gives you the right to pick on trans people. We're all the same community and the 'some of my best friends' line won't wash.
Do you really think Dr.Phil cares if GBLT people stop watching his show? He hates GBLT people. He *wants* them to stop watching his show.
If you want to have a real effect, don't just boycott the Dr.Phil show. Boycott his sponsors!
He's still sponsored by Harpo Productions, right? If so, that's where the boycott should start.
I watched the show and I don't agree with the claims made. I felt he had both sides of the argument evenly portrayed and actually defended Toni's taking exception to the BS that the Religious Right representatives were spouting. I think that the pro-TG message was stronger.

Shame on you for airing "Little Boy Lost" and misrepresenting transgender children. He isn't lost, he is struggling because of people like you who bring on bigots like Glenn Stanton, and Mr. Nicolosi who try to pathologize and "fix" people who are gay or trans. It is biological, it is natural, it cannot be fixed.
What needs to be fixed is my tivo, I will be boycotting your programs.

thanks word, I don't often chuckle at my own emails but I was happy with that one.
Dr. Phil and Robin his wife are just scared because it is something that they have not been brought up around and they do not understand and will not understand until they have to go through it themselves. This is why they are not open minded and accepting.
You don't feel male or female. You just are. You don't feel black or white. You just are. Put all women together,(no reproduction) and all men together,(no reproduction),In my over 40 years, whether I put on lipstick or not, I'm a girl. Why don't the guys ever desire a monthy cycle?
to anonymous: if we switched your body with the opposite sex and you had to live in it for the rest of your life you may feel that indeed you do feel male or female. and how do you know that transwomen don't desire a monthly cycle? I would gladly accept a monthly cycle along with the package.
