YIKES! So much fear that motivates so much abuse...
yeah but i wonder if this term was used later as just another way of saying someone is gay, but not in a negative way
The inverted pink triangle was used in Nazi concentration camp badges to identify male prisoners and were specifically sent there whether Jewish or not, but because the Nazi's thought that they were homosexual. Every prisoner had to wear a triangle on his or her jacket, the color of which was to categorize him or her according "to his kind."
The inverted pink triangle, originally intended as a badge of shame, has become an international symbol of gay pride and the gay rights movement, and is second in popularity only to the rainbow flag.
By the way, I am a devout Christian who has been researching my aching head to figure out my own beliefs. I had a problem with the out right hatred that the church had against homosexuals and the verses that they used because usually they did not take into account one that we are called to love God first, and second to love one another, not condemn, hate, ostracize, etc...
The culture of the time and the original Greek need to be a part of reading the Bible in context and not base an opinion on a translation without looking into these things.
I have always been accepting and loving to others, mostly. My search was quite interesting and I became increasingly angry about gay rights and the history of gay rights particularly Stonewall riots. I digress...bottom line is I went from maybe believing that it was sin to being an advocate for gay rights.
Never take things at face value...search for the truth.
I'm sorry...a third comment...I am planning to write a post about how I went from believing homosexuality was a sin to becoming an advocate.
clueless it is great to have you on board as an advocate for gay rights. you are right the church has been on the wrong side of history on many issue including slavery, and the right for women to vote. people need to focus on the scripture which speaks of love, and non-judgement.
