I've probably been cussed out and didn't know it. LOL On another note: A fellow gay blogger Doug Roberston has had a massive stroke and is now in rehab but will need care the rest of his lif. What's your motivation for posting slurs?
Considering I was around when this term was invented, I think I know exactly what this term means. There is one primary definition as known by the online communities. There are other uses for the word "shim" but to me, shim means this.
So a shim is a male who is pretending to be female on the internet for the benefit of sexual gratification, scamming, or otherwise trying to abuse the female role with the sole motivation of personal gain. They do not want to be female, or wear female clothing, they want to abuse the female image.
