Senator DeMint: "Gay President Would be Immoral"

Social conservative Republican South Carolina Senator Jim DeMint has made outrageous remarks about how he thinks the election of a gay president would be "immoral". He also restated his opposition to marriage equality both federally and locally.
“It would be bothersome to me just personally because I consider it immoral. Marriage is a religious institution. The federal government has no business redefining what it is DeMint told Hunt, adding that even state governments should not have the right to permit same-sex marriages. Governments should not be in the business of promoting a behavior that’s proven to be destructive to our society” (The Advocate).
This type of divisive and homophobic language is dangerous coming from a U.S. Senator. Demand he apologize for these outrageous remarks.

Senator DeMint can be contacted through his e-contact form, guestbook, and Twitter.

  1. Yes - well I have slavery immoral... and he's from south carolina... and the bible was used there to keep and justify slavery (Exodus 21).

I also find selling your daughters into slavery like it says in the Bible, immoral.

I also find forcing a rape victim to marry her rapist immoral (Deuteronomy 22:29).

So by his logic, I don't think Christian Senators should be allowed to be president.

  3. too late.
James Buchanan may have been a homosexual. He was living with the man who would later be his vice president and rumors went around that he was a "Nancy" (insult that referred to homosexuals at the time).
They may have been just rumors though.
Still, it'd be pretty cool if he was.

  4. If marriage is a religious institution then I believe the almighty Pastafarian faith says that it's not immorral but in fact A-Ok! Aren't we at risk of overpopulating the planet in about fourty or sixty years? Have to consult the demographics on that...
