Shameless Self Promotion Sunday
Please feel free to share any links to queer or queer related topics of interest. You can post a blog entry you made, a website you found interesting. Anything goes as long as it is queer in nature.
http://bttbp.org is a NPO I help run based in Yuma, AZ for the purpose of bringing HIV Outreach, Substance Use/Abuse outreach, and life wellness options to the LGBT communities in rural America.
There is such a disparity in options for help if you live somewhere other than on the coast, so that's why BTTBP formed. We are slowly expanding our service reach into any city that will have us so that our brothers and sisters have access to the help they need.
I'm not going to post a ton of links in this comment, but feel free to check out our mission statement under "About Us". There is also an article I wrote detailing the huge gap in service options if you're LGBT and looking for substance abuse. Look for "A Chemical Dependency Conundrum" under the Substance Use/Abuse program.
Hope to hear from you soon,
Daniel MacDonald Director of Development/PR - BTTBP (sayencrowolf on Twitter)
Shameless promotion of a friend and mentor: Chris Bartlett, community organizer and Radical Faerie, was recently written up in the NYT http://www.nytimes.com/2009/12/13/fashion/13memorial.html in a review of his wiki project at gayhistory.wikispaces.com to not just remember the gay men that died of AIDS in Philly over the last 28 years, but to bring them into our communities and social networks so that we may keep learning from and interacting with one another by way of our ancestors.
Shameless self promotion: I've been blogging daily over at The Pistol in Bed Thirteen but there's one in particular that I wanted to share. http://thepistolinbedthirteen.blogspot.com/2009/12/another-one-bites-dust-queer-bookstores.html This post is about Giovanni's Room, a queer indie book store in Philly, and one of the only left on the East coast. I'm asking that everyone consider shopping there for the holidays to keep this amazing queer space alive. They recently repaired a $50,000 structural wall in their historic store and need our support more than ever.
Two new gay holiday erotic romance stories now available!
Vintage Toys for Lucky Boys by G.R. Richards
Max the firm and fit muscle-god doesn't fit Randy's mental picture of an antiques dealer. In fact, he's so smoking-hot, Randy can hardly breathe as Max appraises his shoebox full of vintage toys. The huge amount of money Max offers takes his breath away yet again. All Randy wants is to buy his supportive mom a really great Christmas gift, and this windfall will sure do it. There's only one catch, and it's a huge one: Randy's legal name is still Jennifer Ann. And despite how friendly Max is, Randy's afraid it will be a deal-breaker. Trans-positive fiction! Can I post a day late? Our GLBT research team at The University of Memphis is looking for participants to help with our current study on same-sex parents and legal parenting rights. Participants must be raising children with the same-sex partner with whom they have planned the children, and at least one of these children should still be a minor and living in the home.
