Word of the Gay: "Ghey"
"Ghey" is a postmodern redevelopment of the pejorative usage of the term gay. The term is supposed to convey a sense of being lame or uncool without offending gay people.
While I have serious doubts about how non-offensive ghay would be, I'm really interested in how it's supposed to be pronounced. When I see "ghey" the linguist in me thinks, "breathy voice, perhaps?" while the linguist in me also suspects that's probably not the case.

ReplyDeleteOf course, since it's supposed to mean "lame" there's no concern about offending people with disabilities or their allies.
ReplyDeleteWTF, this is absurd. It is just going to create a useless homonym!
ReplyDeleteMmm. Folks should just consider words that already exist, and broaden their vocabulary.
ReplyDeleteOh, stop! This one belongs in the trash bin.
ReplyDeleteIt is just a bunch of BS.
