Word of the Gay: "No Homo"

"No Homo" is a term used when something can be mistaken as gay in nature, and the person wants to reassure the audience that it was not meant in a homosexual context. The term is most often used in an offensive manner because it embraces the idea that an association with gays is negative.

Yeah...It is offensive...If you're
comfortable with who you are than it
shouldn't matter what others think...

It's offensive, but also telling. Methinks the nohomo doth protest too much...

I find this term so offensive because it seems to undermine the actual fact that being homosexual is nothing less than an orientation that can be changed on a whim, which is so untrue. I mean, just as Laurie said, if a person is comfortable in their skin and not trying to be something that they're not, there should be no issue to bring up; no need to utter the words "no homo". Ok, so most people would already know this if you display an attitude and demeanor that says "I'm comfortable with who I am", unless of course they have something to hide...hmmmmm.....

Auuugh a while back I did a facebook note-post on this "no homo". I remember one of my guy friends mentioning that he can't tell another dude they have a nice shirt without saying "no homo". It's such a stupid phrase...I think it's telling of all sorts of things about the person saying it.
