Iowa Legislature Votes to Protect Equality

The Iowa legislature acted yesterday to reject an effort to repeal the existing marriage equality law. Opponents of same-sex marriage have attempted to override the Supreme Court's decision by amending the state constitution to make marriage between one man and one woman. Polls show the majority of Iowans consider the issue settled and do not wish to revisit it.

The Iowan flag clearly states: "Our liberties we prize and our rights we will maintain" and the Democratic leadership has kept this promise. Please thank the legislators who voted to protect equality.

Way to go Iowans! We need more enlightened people in this country like you!

It's also of interest that this was rejected in both chambers of the Iowa General Assembly yesterday. That means that there were two attempts, both thwarted!
