Textbooks4Change - Buy Textbooks and Fund EQUALITY!

Textbooks4Change is a student-led organization enabling students to raise money for marriage equality in California. How does it work? Students click through a link at the Textbooks4Change website to buy textbooks on Textbooks.com and Barnes and Noble, and approximately 6% of their purchase goes towards repealing Prop 8. All of the money raised goes to the Courage Campaign's Marriage Equality Hub, a leader in California's battle for marriage equality.

Phelps-A-Thon Raising Money for Equality

The Westboro Baptist Church AKA "God Hates Fags" will be protesting at several venues in the coming weeks. Most of their protests are geared at highschools simply because they have a gay-straight alliance to promote diversity and respect for LGBT students on campus. For every minute they protest, equality minded people worldwide will be donating to the Phelps-A-Thon.

Rick-A-Thon

Rick Warren is a homophobic, anti-equality preacher who will be delivering a prayer at the inauguration ceremony for president-elect Barack Obama. For every second that Rick Warren speaks, he will be raising thousands of dollars for LGBT equality.

Be sure to check out and pledge support for the Rick-A-Thon. You can opt to pledge a given amount for every second he speaks or just give a flat rate for the entire time he is on the podium.

Phelps-A-Thon

Driving Equality an 85 day activist trip across America promoting LGBT understanding and tolerance and culminating in a documentary is hosting a Phelps-A-Thon today.

For every minute the “God Hates Fags” clan is protesting, they will be collecting donations for Driving Equality.

The point of the Phelps-A-Thon is two fold. First, they are using Phelps own hateful message to raise funds for a good cause, one that will help counter the lies that are being spread about LGBT people. Second, they will be displaying a sign in front of the “God Hates Fags” clan tallying how much money they have helped raise for LGBT equality. This will certainly upset the group and it is possible that they will leave early to stop the fundraising.

Eight fantastic lesbian bloggers, and some of our fellow friends and readers have united to raise money to defeat proposition 8 in California. 100% of the proceeds raised goes to Equality California's efforts to fight the marriage amendment.

Live Long and Marry (Auction for Equality)

What is this?
Live Long And Marry is a fandom auction to benefit marriage equality. Bidding begins on July 1, 12:01 AM one minute after midnight Pacific Time, 2008, and closes on July 15, 12:01 AM one minute after midnight Pacific Time, 2008. Please do not bid until bidding opens.

What's the cause?
The auction will raise money for the fight against the California initiative which will legally destroy existing same-sex marriages and ban any further ones. If the initiative passes, it will write discrimination into the state constitution, annull existing marriages, and make Mr. Sulu cry.

How can I help?
You can bid on fanfic, original fic, vids, cookies, memorabilia, critique/betas, and much more! Or you can offer your skills and services as a writer, vidder, baker, knitter, or whatever else you'd like.
