Protest at Senegal High Commission in London
The planned LGBT / HIV human rights protest outside the Senegal Embassy in London on Friday 23 January has been canceled.
This is at the request of LGBT and HIV activists in Senegal. They say negotiations are going well with the Senegalese government for the release of nine men from jail. Although the activists appreciate our planned protests and have expressed their gratitude for our support, they now feel that negotiations are at a very delicate stage and they are nervous that protests might alienate the government.

U.K. Petition to NHS & Prime Minister "Stop Gay Blood Ban"
"The UK is currently dangerously low in it's stocks of blood. Therefore the NHS spends lots of taxpayers money on advertising and marketing costs in order to increase donor levels.
However, if the NHS changed one simple rule, they could potentially have several million extra donors eligible to give blood - instantly and without any marketing costs.
SIGN THE PETITION that will be sent to the NHS blood donor Chief Executive and the Prime Minister later in 2008.How? Allow gay people to give blood.
The UK law is outdated, stereotypical and discriminatory towards gay men.
More than that, it is risking lives - the UK urgently needs more blood.
A straight man who has sex with a different girl every weekend can give blood TODAY.
Intravenous Drug users can give blood after 1 year.
Prostitute users can give blood after 1 year.
Those who have had sex abroad in a high risk HIV country can give blood after 18 months.
Gay men are banned FOR LIFE, even if they've only ever had sex with one partner and they used protection."

Bigots Should NOT be in the Radio Hall of Fame!
As we reported earlier in a contest by the National Radio Hall of Fame, James Dobson was nominated to be awarded as an influential and important figure. To non-christians, and to the LGBT community James Dobson represents lies and bigotry.
Activists are still encouraging the Radio Hall of Fame not to honor this right-wing extremist bigot.
The protest is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 8, 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM, at the Renaissance Chicago Hotel, 1 W Wacker Drive.
4 steps of action YOU can take:
* E-Mail Radio Hall of Fame CEO Bruce Dumont, brucedumont@museum.tv, and urge him to withdraw Dobson’s honor.
* Sign our letter to the Radio Hall of Fame urging them to reverse their foolhardy decision to celebrate Dobson’s shameful and ignoble career.
* If you live in the Chicago area, please sign up to participate in our protest.
* Donate to Truth Wins Out or Donate to the Gay Liberation Network to help us stand up to James Dobson and the Radio Hall of Fame.

Gay Sheep Experiments Aimed to "Fix" Homosexuality
I am bumping this thread back up since these cruel and homophobic experiments continue to occur in the name of science.
According to PETA:
"Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU), a school that has received criticism in the past for torturing monkeys in its labs, has officially been outed. Information has been brought to light about ridiculous “gay sheep” experiments that are being conducted at the school. OHSU experimenter Charles Roselli is spending millions of taxpayer dollars to kill homosexual rams and cut open their brains in an attempt to find the hormone behind homosexual tendencies so that these tendencies can be changed. Roselli is also working with experimenter Frederick Stormshak of Oregon State University (OSU), who has surgically inserted an estrogen implant in the bodies of these rams in an effort “to restore tissue levels of estrogen comparable to those of heterosexual rams and affect sexual behavior accordingly.”
In addition to being cruel to animals, these experiments also carry the insidious implication that homosexuality in humans needs to be "cured." In his application for public funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the experimenter states that “this research also has broader implications for understanding the development and control of sexual motivation and mate selection across mammalian species, including humans.”
Please use the form below to write to OSU President Edward Ray and OHSU President-Elect Joseph Robertson Jr. asking that they immediately stop these needless “gay sheep” experiments and use taxpayers’ money for legitimate research instead."

"Right to Serve" Preparing to Protest DADT
UPDATE: Here is the official website for the tour beginning tomorrow. http://harvardrighttoserve.org/index.php
"A groundbreaking bus tour protesting Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, “Right to Serve” is an LGBT event in which everyone devoted to true equality—gay or straight, open or closeted, liberal or conservative—can participate. The day after finals end, students from Harvard College and the various graduate schools will embark on a weeklong journey that will highlight the injustice of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell. The bus tour will make four stops across the country; and at each stop, one openly gay Harvard student will attempt to enlist for military service. When their desire to serve is rejected, participants on the tour will sit-in at the recruitment station to highlight the injustice of denying a citizen the right to serve based solely on their sexual orientation."

Solidarity Rallies in New York, Chicago, and San Francisco for LGBT Russians
According to Petrelis Files:
"Gay activists in three U.S. cities will mobilize for vigils on May 16 and 17 for IDAHO, International Day Against Homophobia, and the focus will be to apply pressure on the Russian government to grant all necessary permits to the organizers of Moscow's third gay pride parade, scheduled for late May.
Last year, despite the mayor of Moscow refusing to grant permits to parade, gay marchers from around the world attempted to peaceably take to the streets for equality and tolerance, and were violently assaulted by ultra-nationalist thugs, sending some of the gays, covered in blood, to the hospital. Russian police stood by and did nothing to stop the attacks."

More Queer Papal Protests/Vigils
An Interfaith Vigil of Hope:
Saturday, April 19: 6-7pm,
on the eve of the Pope’s visit to Ground Zero & in memory of Fr. Mychal Judge.
With members of New York's LGBT community we will “remember our families and friends who died in the World Trade Center Tragedy, and pray for change of heart, for an end to prejudice, for understanding, peace, and reconciliation."
Meet outside St. Paul's Chapel at Broadway & Fulton St at 6 pm. From there the candle light vigil will walk to the corner of Church and Vesey Streets where the body of Fr. Mychal Judge was first placed on 9/11. Bring your own candle.
A 7-foot banner painting of Mychal Judge, by Brooklyn artist Ian Hart, will be unfurled at the vigil. The banner depicts scenes from his life of reconciliation and compassionate caring, including as Fire Chaplain, with Chinese immigrant-survivors of the Golden Venture wreck, walking with his St Francis Aids Ministry in the Pride parade, and at Long Kesh Prison in the North of Ireland. The event will call attention to the important role gay clergy have played in the Catholic Church.
