Word of the Gay: "Fauxmosexual"

A "fauxmosexual" is a straight man who pretends to be gay to attract more women. The term can also refer to a celebrity who claims to be gay/lesbian as part of a publicity stunt.

What a stunt! We all deal with so much discrimination and dislike, I can't imagine how pretending to be gay would help a career!

I think for sexy female celebrities there is a bonus in playing the possibly bi card. It keeps people excited, otherwise I can't see how being gay/bi helps a career.

I remember in the 80's it was popular for some guys to be a Fauxmosexual. I think it was understood that they were straight though.

This is so preposterous for us in LatinAmerica that anyone trying to pull that stunt will go down the drain.... Latin girls may like gays as friends, but that's about it...
