Utah Senator Chris Buttars Calls "Gays Greatest Threat to America"

Utah state senator Chris Buttars has made homophobic remarks against the gay community in an upcoming documentary on proposition 8. He is saying that "gays are the greatest threat to the country ever" and that "gay marriage is the beginning of the end." This senator has also made comments that are racist and offensive to the African American and Muslim communities.

~Sung to the tune of Santa Claus Is Coming To Town.

Bigots should have thought twice
Bigots better not cry
Bigots didn’t play nice

Bigots supported prop 8 (x3)
We’re making a list,
Checking it twice;
Gonna find out who's naughty or nice.
Bigots supported prop 8 (x3)
We are very busy and have no time to play
But rest assure, you will be known if you fuck’d with our equality.
Bigots supported prop 8 (x3)

Thou Shalt Not Lie: Mormon Church Refuses Petition!

10/30 Update: Nearly 17,000 people signed the letter demanding the Mormon church stop funding proposition 8. The Courage Campaign went to deliver our signatures on Tuesday but were rejected by the Los Angeles Mormon Church as seen by the video below. The campaign is now headed to Salt Lake City, Utah to deliver the signatures to the Mormon Church headquarters.

10/27: It's time for Californians to fight back against the dishonest attacks of the "Yes on 8" campaign funded by the Mormon Church. On Tuesday, the Courage Campaign will deliver a letter to President-Prophet Thomas Monson at the Los Angeles Mormon Temple, demanding that his church stop funding the blatant lies of the "Yes on 8" campaign.

We need to stop the Mormon Church from pushing their marriage views on Californians through the ballot box. Please sign this letter now to President-Prophet Thomas Monson demanding that his church cease funding the "Yes on 8" campaign:

A Beautiful Display of Non-Violent Queer Resistance!

"The Proposition 8 battle is being fought on the street in San Jose. After one family claims a 'Yes on 8' sign was stolen from their front yard, they replaced it with a huge banner on the front of their house.

Supporters of marriage equality then parked an SUV directly in front of the house with a sign and arrow on the windshield, indicating "Bigots Live Here."

I applaud the efforts of these anonymous activists. They are exercising their right to free speech and displaying a non-violent form of resistance against our oppressors.

Boycott and Contact Anti-Gay Bahrain!

Bahrain has begun a new campaign targeting gay/lesbian citizens in a bid to cleanse them from the country. The government is working to ban all foreign homosexuals from being able to obtain residence. The government is also conducting a study to see how widespread homosexuality is in the country and what can be done to counter it. The government also advises teachers to look out for signs of homosexuality amongst students and to take appropriate disciplinary action.

This is outrageous and our voices must be heard!

Demonstration by LGBT & Allies at "Ex-Gay" Conference in Orlando, Florida

According to Lavender Newswire:

"June 7 Event to Send Message that Parents Love Their LGBT Children “Just the Way They Are”

WHAT: Parents, family members, clergy and allies from across the Gulf Coast region will greet attendees entering the Orlando, Florida “Love Won Out” conference. The conference, organized by the American Family Association, endorses so-called “reparative therapy” for lesbian, gay and bisexual people. Members of Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) will greet attendees with donuts, coffee and information on embracing lesbian and gay loved ones.

WHO: PFLAG parents will be joined by supportive members of the clergy from around Orlando, as well as PFLAG National executive director Jody M. Huckaby and Lance Helms, Gulf Coast Regional Director for PFLAG.

WHY: So-called “ex-gay ministries,” such as “Love Won Out,” use out-moded medical theories and radical religious beliefs to justify trying to alter gay and lesbian people’s natural sexual orientation. In 1990, the American Psychological Association (APA) stated that scientific evidence does not show that conversion therapy works and that it can do more harm than good.

WHEN: Saturday, June 7, 2008 7:00am

WHERE: First Presbyterian Church, 106 E. Church Street, Orlando, FL 32801"

Cayman Islands Police Enforce Antiquated "Gay Affection Law"

UPDATE: According to Towerload:

"Cayman Islands Director of Tourism Pilar Bush sent a letter of apology to Aaron Chandler, the 23-year-old Massachusetts man who was arrested last Thursday in the Caymans after kissing his partner on a dance floor while vacationing there.

Said Bush in the letter, which Chandler received on Friday: "On behalf of the entire Department of Tourism, I apologise for your upsetting experience and want to assure you that the Cayman Islands is a welcoming jurisdiction to all people. What happened to you was an isolated incident, and is not representative of Cayman. We know that thousands of gay and lesbian visitors travel to the Cayman Islands every year and enjoy their vacation."

According to: Queerty:

"Homophobia’s got a way of lasting the test of time. Massachusetts-based gay activist Aaron Chandler certainly learned that lesson this week.

The 23-year old wrote in from the Grand Cayman Islands, where he and some friends are currently on vacation. Chandler explained that he, his boyfriend and some gal pals went out for a night of dancing when a police officer broke up their party to reprimand Chandler for “showing public affection” with his boyfriend.

The men originally blew the copper off, but learned a lesson when, after they kissed again, the copper called for backup.

There are two problems here, one more severe than the other. First, the fact that sexual policing remains on the books in this British territory confounds, but doesn’t surprise. Gibraltar, another British overseas territory, maintains discriminatory age of consent laws. Former protectorates such as the islands - and other sovereign lands - cling to Britain’s antiquated anti-gay laws."

Feel free to voice your concern to the Cayman Islands tourism website, Gay travel enthusiasts may think twice about traveling to a country where affection can get you arrested.

College Newspaper "The Daily Mississippian" Publishes Hate

According to Wayne Bessen:

"In a disgraceful example of journalistic malpractice, the college newspaper The Daily Mississipian printed right wing talking points - while calling it an Op-Ed .
"Homosexuality is unhealthy," writes Zack Williams, "Not in the way that cigarettes and booze are unhealthy, but in the way that drinking a shot of turpentine every Wednesday afternoon while perusing real estate catalogues for houses near nuclear waste dumps is unhealthy."

MEDIA ALERT: Please send your own letters to the editor of the Daily Mississipian,

Urge Alberta Premier Ed Stelmach to Add Sexuality to Human Rights Code

According to Slap Upside The Head:

"Alberta Premier Ed Stelmach has announced that he will not bring Alberta’s Human Rights code up to date with the rest of Canada this legislative session.

Alberta is currently the only Canadian province that doesn’t include protections against discrimination based on sexual orientation in its human rights code. While Stelmach told the Calgary SUN that adding these protections is “one of several issues under review” for future sessions, he offered no timeline or hints of priority, saying the changes would not be simple."

Please use the form below to contact Premier Ed Stelmach to move swiftly to bring about this important piece of legislation.

Bill O'Reilly Wants "Gays Turned into Salt", Dennis Miller calls "Homosexuals Morons"

Another day and another task we have in combating blatant homophobia. The O'Reilly factor had a segment about "Hunky Jesus" an event in San Francisco where men dress up as Jesus. The event is hosted by the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. Whether you like the event or are personally offended by it, people have the right to exercise their right to free speech and so do O'Reilly and Miller. However, I prefer to call them out on it and let them know they are wrong to talk about gays in this manner.

Dennis Miller refers to gays as "homosexual morons who want to throw a parade" and O'Reilly says "Wouldn't you love to see these people turned into salt" and Miller responds he "doesn't know, and just doesn't care"

Please watch the video here on PageOneQ http://pageoneq.com/news/2008/oreilly032708.html

Millions of people tuned into this homophobic crap.

Please contact O'Reilly and Miller and let them know homophobia on our airwaves is not welcome.
