Open Forum: Bruno Isht Been Offensive or Funny?

Bruno hit movie theaters yesterday and has already caused a frenzy in the gay community. Some argue that the movie is offensive and just plays on stereotypes associated with gay men. Others argue that the movie is a catalyst for change by showing how bigoted and homophobic the public is. Finally, some just say people need to lighten up and enjoy a good movie even if it is ridden with some insults against the gay community.

The movie is called "BrĂ¼no: Delicious Journeys Through America for the Purpose of Making Heterosexual Males Visibly Uncomfortable in the Presence of a Gay Foreigner in a Mesh T-Shirt" so is it making fun of the gay foreigner, the uncomfortable hetero males, or both?

Word of the Gay: "He-She"

"He-She" can take on a few different meanings. It is most commonly used in a derogatory fashion against transgender people in the process of transitioning. It can also be used as an offensive synonym for bisexuals, and to describe really feminine or masculine gays or lesbians.

Comedian Jerry Lewis Continues "Faggot" Jokes

Comedian Jerry Lewis has been in boiling hot water before. Insulting gays, women and disability rights advocates with his provocative comedy routine.

"At a press conference in Sydney today 83 year old comedian Jerry Lewis decided to let fly with the word ‘fag’. And what’s even more shocking, a major Australian news outlet didn’t even feel the need to edit the word out before televising the interview.

While speaking with a journalist from Channel Ten News, Lewis was asked “What do you think of cricket?” His response was, “Oh cricket is a fag’s game!” Lewis then proceeded to flounce about, using camp, effeminate gestures, pretending to hold a bat with a limp wrist, squealing in a high pitched voice “Ah! The ball is coming towards me!” (Same-Same)
He has apologized in the past for using the homophobic slur, maybe its time for him to apologize again and put an end to his homophobic stand up routine?
