Urge U.K. Prime Minister to Denounce Anti-Gay/Anti-Trans MP

Roger Helmer a conservative member of the British Parliament has made a controversial tweet defending so called "reparative therapy" for gay, lesbian and bisexual people. He ignorantly compares sex-change operations to sexual orientation an offense that should be taken by the entire LGBT community being that sexual orientation and gender identity are not the same thing.

In his tweet he says:

"Why is it OK for a surgeon to perform a sex-change operation, but not OK for a psychiatrist to try to "turn" a consenting homosexual?"

His remarks not only show that he believes sexual orientation can be altered but it also goes to show that he considers a sex-change operation to be a choice. While electing for surgery is a choice in the respect that one is not forced to undergo the procedure, it is often a life-saving procedure for transgender people who would otherwise not want to live in a physical body that does not correspond with their gender identity.

Urge Prime Minister David Cameron to reject MP Helmer's controversial and dangerous suggestion that "conversion therapy" works.

South African National Party Will "Rehabilitate Gays"

Independent Online, a South African news provider is reporting that the revived National Party in South Africa will allow gay and lesbian members to serve, but that the government will help to "rehabilitate" them. The party is also advocating that the country stop performing same-sex marriages, which became legal in November 2006.

A NP representative said:

"The party is open to all. We don't approve (of homosexuality), but there is nothing we can do about people's lifestyle. We won't exclude them, we will rather rehabilitate them. We regard them as South Africans and we will still serve them," Sprague said.

Contact the National Party via the address and email below and let them know that science shows homosexuality is not a disease in need of treatment and that "reparative therapy" does not work and is dangerous. Also, tell them not to interfere with the constitution which guarantees marriage rights for same-sex couples.

Prayers for Bobby Via Youtube

As posted earlier, the movie Prayers for Bobby is a powerful drama based on a real life. The story is about a mother who could not accept her sons homosexuality, and as a result of his families ignorance, the boy commits suicide. The mother struggles to make peace with herself, and ultimately becomes an advocate on behalf of gay rights.

The movie is continually being shown on the Lifetime channel and the entire movie Prayers for Bobby has been uploaded to Youtube and can be seen within 10 different segments.

Word of the Gay: "Ex-Ex-Gay"

"Ex-Ex-Gays" are people who were once under religious/social pressure attempting to change their sexual orientation to heterosexual, but eventually came to embrace their sexual identity as LGBT.
