Joy Behar of ABC's The View and her own show on HLN called The Joy Behar Show has been an ardent straight ally on behalf of the LGBT community but is coming under criticism for generalizations about gay male relationships.
In a segment on The View she argues that gays take monogamy less seriously, and that it is permissible for gay men to have affairs. She maintains that the straight world is more inclined to break up a relationship where one partner goes astray while the gay community is more accepting of such behavior.
The gay community much like the straight community has a variety of viewpoints when it comes to the issue of monogamy. There are gays and straights who are polyamorous and have multiple partners, and there are many who regard monogamy as right for them. To assert a blanket statement for the entire community is plain misinformation and wrong to those millions of LGBT people who do practice monogamy.

Double Standard on Adam Lambert's Display of Sexuality
On ABC's The View American Idol runner up singer Adam Lambert's display at the American Music Award's was the subject of heated discussion. Typically, more conservative co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck takes issue with Lambert's "sexual aggression" and Sherri Sheperd says "she wasn't pleased" with the AMA "lesbian kiss" between Madonna and Britney Spears either.
There is no doubt that Adam Lambert wanted to be edgy by appearing on stage with a man on a leash, receiving mock oral sex, and making out with a man on live TV but he is being singled out by some in the media for this behavior. The reaction is testament to the fact that Americans are still very uncomfortable with overt sexuality and non-heteronormative behavior being displayed.
Tell Hasselbeck and Sheperd not to single out Adam Lambert or gay behavior in general, he didn't do anything wrong, he is an artist, and many heterosexuals have been equally if not more overt about their sexuality, but weren't singled out because heterosexuality is the norm in our society.

Sherri Shepherd "Struggles" With Whether LGBT People Deserve Equal Rights
11/10 Update: Thanks to your activism and the activism of GLAAD and Ellen DeGeneres the show was held accountable for the outright lies spread by Sherri Shepherd on prop 8. Also, one thing that keeps irritating me is that this show is supposed to be informative. They talked about the gay adoption ban, in the last program they said they thought it was in Nebraska, well on today's program they said that as if it were factual. The adoption ban was in Arkansas, if you want people to take the show seriously, get the facts straight. I wish Sherri Shepherd and Elisabeth Hasselbeck would keep their religious viewpoint out of the political debate on civil rights.
H/T to Good As You for the video.
11/8 Sherri Shepherd one of the co-hosts of "The View" of ABC spread a lot of misinformation about marriage equality and prop 8. She talks of her "pastor possibly being jailed" for speaking against homosexuality. She also said that gay issues are something she "struggles" with because she has gay friends. She "doesn't want rights being taken away" but she says she is a "christian and believes marriage is between a man and a woman."
