According to To Be Publications:
"The Mexican city of Guadalajara is threatening to move gay clubs out of the city center in advance of the 2011 Pan American Games that will take place in the city, according to Carlos Oceguera, who owns two such clubs.Local Activism has been unsuccesful and club owners have asked for international help to resolve the issue.
A February story in the daily newspaper La Jornada Jalisco made the same claim, with the headline "Guadalajara mayor's office attack against gay clubs; it doesn't want them in the Historic Downtown."
Oceguera said city officials believe the presence of businesses catering to gays gives the city a "bad and promiscuous image" for tourists."

Geezle Pete, of all the things worrying Mexico and what they are concerned about Gays and/or their Clubs.
Concerned it is troubling to their Tourist? I'm pretty sure that's the last concern for a tourist - more about why doesn't your state take care of your citizens then they won't have to jump fences.
Such Stupidity on a Sunday Morning.
this is foolish matter, there are other things they can deal with
Umm... I thought people went to Mexico to be "bad and promiscuous"?
I can beleive that they would want to close the bars. It is a the ignorance of such people that we have to continue to struggle against. They also think that if there are not any gay bars for the tourist to see the tourist who might or might not be hetorosexual will think that Guadalajara does not have any homosexuals. Mexico wake up and smell the coffee and stop letting the rest of the world think that you are not ever going move ahead.
