Arizona Mayor Doesn't Want “Lacy-Drawered, Limp-Wristed” Gays in Military

Yuma Arizona's Mayor Al Krieger made offensive remarks at a Memorial Day event suggesting gay people are effeminate and weak and asserted that gay servicemembers can never do what tough veterans have done in the past.

The Mayor voiced his opposition to repealing the Don't Ask Don't Tell policy by saying:

“I cannot believe a bunch of lacey-drawered, limp-wristed people could do what those men have done in the past.”

“We need solid, strong men to fight those battles. Not pacifists.”
He even went on to compare his stand with that of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, saying that he was principled and speaking from the heart.

Telegraph Column: "Gays Aren't "Normal" and "Shouldn't Play Victim"

The Telegraph is a newspaper geared towards the United Kingdom and International community. A column by journalist James Delingpole called "But gays AREN'T normal..." borders on the offensive. In the article the author is trying to convey the point that the homophobic comments of a conservative political candidate are not necessarily shared by him but that he defends their right to say it.

The first problem is the provocative title and wording of the article to suggest that gays aren't normal:

"Some of my best friends are gay and I don’t think any of them would describe their sexual preferences as “normal”. In fact, for one or two of them, the very fact that what they do is abnormal is one of the major bonuses of having been born homosexual: it’s ruder."
If Delingpole would simply use the word unconventional as opposed to normal, there wouldn't be any problem. Of course gay people are a minority but to suggest abnormality is to suggest that there is something wrong with gay people.

Delingpole than goes on to make the claim that anti-gay views along with other views should be accepted within the conservative movement:
"Conservatism is a broad and tolerant church – and that ought to include toleration of the mild intolerance of free citizens like Lardner."
While society has free speech principles, a politicians job is to represent all the people, including his gay and lesbian constituents.

Finally the author says that nobody should play victim:
"Gay victimhood is soooo last year. In fact, victimhood of any kind is not a Tory concept at all."
When a whole group of people are subject to discriminatory language by a politician there must be consequences for the language that seeks to hurt others.

CNN Polls Readers on Whether Gays Should Be Given Hospital Visitation Rights

The CNN homepage has a non-scientific poll up asking visitors 'What they think of President Obama's order to allow hospital visitation rights for gay and lesbian partners?' Thankfully the vast majority of the hundreds of thousands who answered have sided with basic fairness and only a small minority believe hospital visitation rights shouldn't be extended to gay people.

CNN in putting this poll up fails to see how offensive the mere question is. Could you imagine the outrage if there was a poll allowing users to vote on another minorities basic civil rights?

Express your dissapointment with CNN over this poll by giving them feedback on their homepage.

Joy Behar Makes Unfair Generalization about Gay Relationships

Joy Behar of ABC's The View and her own show on HLN called The Joy Behar Show has been an ardent straight ally on behalf of the LGBT community but is coming under criticism for generalizations about gay male relationships.

In a segment on The View she argues that gays take monogamy less seriously, and that it is permissible for gay men to have affairs. She maintains that the straight world is more inclined to break up a relationship where one partner goes astray while the gay community is more accepting of such behavior.

The gay community much like the straight community has a variety of viewpoints when it comes to the issue of monogamy. There are gays and straights who are polyamorous and have multiple partners, and there are many who regard monogamy as right for them. To assert a blanket statement for the entire community is plain misinformation and wrong to those millions of LGBT people who do practice monogamy.

Contact Joy Behar via Twitter and tell her to apologize for her remarks.

Demand the Dallas Voice Stop Using "Tranny"

The Dallas Voice and it's Web Log which bill themselves as a "LGB Paper" are not inclusive or sensitive to the T part of the community. They continue to use derogatory words against the trans community. These words lead to insensitivity resulting in the marginalization, victimization and violent murders of transgender people.

The video below describes how harmful it is to the self respect of transgender people when you call them "trannie" and unless they are a entertainer with published articles which we identify ourselves individually as a "Drag Queen or Tranny" please do not call them by these names.

Please save lives and take action! Copy the message below and send the Dallas Voice an email!

Word of the Gay: "He-She"

"He-She" can take on a few different meanings. It is most commonly used in a derogatory fashion against transgender people in the process of transitioning. It can also be used as an offensive synonym for bisexuals, and to describe really feminine or masculine gays or lesbians.

Comedian Jerry Lewis Continues "Faggot" Jokes

Comedian Jerry Lewis has been in boiling hot water before. Insulting gays, women and disability rights advocates with his provocative comedy routine.

"At a press conference in Sydney today 83 year old comedian Jerry Lewis decided to let fly with the word ‘fag’. And what’s even more shocking, a major Australian news outlet didn’t even feel the need to edit the word out before televising the interview.

While speaking with a journalist from Channel Ten News, Lewis was asked “What do you think of cricket?” His response was, “Oh cricket is a fag’s game!” Lewis then proceeded to flounce about, using camp, effeminate gestures, pretending to hold a bat with a limp wrist, squealing in a high pitched voice “Ah! The ball is coming towards me!” (Same-Same)
He has apologized in the past for using the homophobic slur, maybe its time for him to apologize again and put an end to his homophobic stand up routine?

E! Online Makes Mockery Out of Bisexuality!

E! Online has posted an offensive and biphobic article titled "Polling All Body Parts" which questions Lindsay Lohan's sexual orientation and paints an ugly picture of bisexuality.

"Say it ain’t so. Could Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson’s “special” relaysh already be on the fritz? It’s only a matter of time before L.L. retreats back and finds comfort in her fave male body part. ‘Course, we’ve been warning this one since that gal went all lesbyterian, anyway, but makes us wonder..."
They are asking readers to vote on whether bisexuality is a legitimate orientation. The poll which is titled "Bi Now, Gay Later" has the following options:

"*Not a chance, it's a stop on the way to homoville.

*Sure, I'm a little Anne Heche. I've experimented with both sexes.

*Angelina Jolie dabbled with a woman and found her way to Brad Pitt. Works for me."

All of the above choices are offensive and not characteristic of bisexuality.

This article makes a joke and a mockery out of bisexuality. Please take a moment to contact E! Online through their "Polling All Body Parts" article. Just scroll down to contact at the bottom of the page.
