The folks at No On 1/Protect Maine Equality invite you to consider a "volunteer vacation" this fall.
During the month leading up to the election, the campaign will be hosting a team of highly motivated volunteers to serve as full-time, volunteer campaign staff. In Maine voters begin casting their ballots in October, so we’re planning the Volunteer Vacation to run during the entire month of October. There are several shifts to choose from, each lasting one week (although you’re welcome to stay longer):
*WEEK #1: Sun, Oct 4 – Sun, Oct 11 (Arrive Sat, Oct 3. Orientation Sun, Oct 4. Depart Sun, Oct 11)
*WEEK #2: Sun, Oct 11 – Sun, Oct 18 (Arrive Sat, Oct 10. Orientation Sun, Oct 11. Depart Sun, Oct 18)
*WEEK #3: Sun, Oct 18 – Sun, Oct 25 (Arrive Sat, Oct 17. Orientation Sun, Oct 18. Depart Sun, Oct 25)
*WEEK #4: Sun, Oct 25 – Wednesday, Nov 4 (Arrive Sat, Oct 24. Orientation Sun, Oct 25. Depart Sun, Nov 1)
When you arrive, you will receive a full orientation and will be assigned to a team, where you will be trained on various aspects of the campaign. The campaign will provide housing with local supporters, but you will be responsible for paying for your own travel to/from Portland, food, and local transportation.

Arizona's Wingspan LGBT Center Needs Your Help!
The economic hardships are hitting all sectors of the economy hard, and have been a particular cause of hardship for LGBT nonprofits such as queer community centers trying to stay afloat.
Wingspan has been serving Tucson's LGBT community since 1988 and with the economic downturn has come drastic cutbacks for the organization. The LGBT and straight supportive communities would sorely miss this center and it's vital services if the door's close on it, which is a very real possibility.
The group is desperately seeking volunteers to take the place of former paid staffers and also looking for any and all donations to help them continue to serve the community.
If you have a few extra dollars, donate to Wingspan or your local LGBT Community Center.

National Food Drive For Equality!
Natl Food Drive for Equality - In the spirit of the holiday season, let's set aside our own struggles and needs, to demonstrate to the nation and the world the collective power of the LGBTQ community to be a force of betterment for all society.
Beginning on November 28th, 2008 and going until we Light Up the Night for Equal Rights on December 20th, Join The Impact is launching the first national LGBTQ Food Drive for Equality!
Through this event, we will work to reach out not only to those who have worked alongside us, but to organizations and individuals that fear us and oppose our cause by donating to faith based food pantries.
Our efforts to alleviate the hunger America is facing in this difficult time will be indiscriminate with regards to creed or political philosophy. These are gaps we can and must bridge if we are going to achieve equality in this country.
