Activist Tip: Take Away Their Marriage Recognition

For those who voted to take away our marriage rights, we can symbolically take away the recognition of theirs as well. In some ways it seems a little juvenile, but so are their actions, and this will go a long way to make our point. If you know someone who is anti-gay, or voted for a proposition banning same-sex marriage, you can no longer regard their relationship as a marriage. Instead, give them a taste of what they are subjecting us to. Refer to their spouse as their "domestic partner" and their marriage as a "civil union" or just say you no longer recognize marriages since your right to them was taken away.

H/T to Chino Blanco for the graphic.

That is beyond juvenile. The point that the lgbt community is missing, is marriage has been viewed as between man and woman since our nations founding. People who voted to support prop 8 in particular did not take away anyone's rights. These people restored the value of marriage, because a couple activist judges thought they had the right to reverse something, that CA already voted on and something that is constitutional. You are trying to compare something, where there is no comparison. A marriage is a union between man and woman, people cannot go around redefining words. Because I think the man across the street is my brother, although he really is my neighbor, I cannot just decide and go around calling him my brother because I choose, he's my neighbor.

Marriage is between a man and a man, woman and woman, you are re-defining it in hopes of societal acceptance of your alternative heterosexual lifestyle.

Just keep drinking the Kool-Aid and living in your fantasy land. I wonder what it's like to be like you and fail at everything in life.

Keep your sick fantasies to yourself and stop trying to force your hetero-fascist agenda on us.

I could partake in this, if only all the straight people I know were not divorced.

Degenerate failures.

CJ it just makes me sick to think that these heterosexualists want to recruit our children into their lifestyle, teach them about man-woman marriage. Men and women are so different, how could they ever understand each other, its no wonder they all end up in divorce.

This is an awesome tip!

And as for Anon: yeah, stop forcing your heterosexual lifestyle on us. It's not welcome. Why don't you just go to one of your straight bars, for God's sake.

Anonymous: Your neighbour/brother example is the most abdurd example I've ever heard of. He's your neighbour BEFORE he's your brother? Wow. That's like being ashamed of your family.

Zane my analogy was specifically pointing out the absurd view the lgbt community has that because they want something to be called marriage does not mean that it is. Because I want to call my neighbor my brother, does not mean that all of a sudden he is going to be my brother. He is still a neighbor no matter how much I wish he was my brother. No matter how much you want to call your relationship a marriage, it will never be a marriage, whether or not prop 8 and similar statutes are overturned
