The Weekly Queer Roundup

This week we have witnessed our fair share of ups and downs for the community. The house has passed the historic Murphy amendment giving the green light towards repealing Don't Ask Don't Tell. Not all are happy about this compromise, and the truth of the matter is openly LGB servicemembers can still be kicked out. This policy is only one violation in a world where being queer can mean imprisonment, torture, and the death penalty. Case in point was a Malawi couple who had been imprisoned, but has since been pardoned. On a less important but interesting note, scientists have proven that gaydar does exist. Other interesting thought provoking points brought up are the fact that sex is part of sexuality and the question of whether a celibate person can be straight. This week props go to atheists who worship the boot to shun an anti-gay preacher. Leaving the best for last, what I find most amazing is the thought process behind Christian Newswire which claims that Ellen's lesbianism has ruined American Idol.

Atheists sure do know how to use ridicule to combat religious extremists.
