"Poofter" - A pejorative English term for a male homosexual, especially one who is unusually effeminate. Its synonym counterpart and more widely recognized term is faggot.

I'm conducting research about GLBQ blogging and your input would be very much appreciated. This is my Masters in Social Work thesis project. My Australian father uses the term "Willy Woofter" as some kind of lame rhyming slang that attempts to euphemise "Poofter". I think he is starting to realise that he needs to keep it to himself, fortunately. It really angers me.

Poofter is a word used in the UK and tends to be used by children.
We used it in the 70s when i was a kid. :)
