Catholic Church Against Making Gay Death Penalty Illegal

The Catholic Church a body that has been staunchly opposed to the death penalty does not want to include international protections by the United Nations for gay people who face death penalty charges in countries where homosexuality is illegal. The Vatican is voicing opposition and plan to go against the French proposal that is introducing this piece of human rights resolution.

"This week the Vatican's permanent observer to the United Nations, said the Holy See would oppose a resolution that would protect gays from being killed, just because they are gay because it would "add new categories of those protected from discrimination" and could lead to reverse discrimination against traditional heterosexual marriage.

The French resolution, scheduled to be proposed this week, recommends protecting Gays and Lesbians from being jailed or killed because of their sexual orientation and is being introduced to the UN on behalf of the European Union.

But Archbishop Celestino Migliore said, if adopted, the resolution would create “new and implacable discriminations," and also said that states which do not recognize same-sex unions as 'matrimony' will be pilloried and made an objects of pressure.

However, the French resolution, which is supported by all 27 members of the European Union, says absolutely nothing about gay marriage; it is about ending jail and death penalty sentences gays yet face in more than 85 countries including Afghanistan, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Sudan and Yemen where you can still be killed for being gay."(LGR)
This is so disgusting and hypocritical of the Church. They are against the death penalty but don't want to be on the record opposing it for gays and lesbians?

What hypocrites!

And people think this church is a source or moral guidance?

I can't believe it! Mons. Migliore argues that "new and implacable discriminations" would be created and that "states which don't recognize same-sex unions as marriage will be pilloried and made objects of pressure." Whom do they want to fool? First, it's about decriminalization, a penal question, keeping marriage and other civil questions out of its scope. Second, it's proposed by France, which don't recognize same-sex unions as marriage. Third, even KaczyƄski Bros.' Poland supports it!

This doesn't surprise me--but you'd think all those gay priests would be worried!

No big surprise coming from the religion that decided to engage a non-interventionist policy while the Jews were being massacred in WWII Germany.

How any thinking LGBT person could continue to support this church or seek spiritual guidance from this church is beyond me.

They have finally proven themselves to be hypocrites that we have always known them to be, this time in a very public and repulsive way.

Nopt surprised given the current homohating hierarchy.

Wow, that is F*CKED UP! I'm a "lapsed" Catholic as they say, and I wouldn't wish the Catholic church on anyone.

Whatever happened to "Love one another as I have loved you"???? *
(Jesus Christ)*
I left the church 40 years ago for many reasons. What they're doing today merely confirms for me that my decision to leave the church was the correct one.

Death Cult Of The Bead Mumblers. Wake Up Earth--these things masquerading as humans do not want you to have conciousness. Conciousness is the Miracle which emanates from the Universal Core. Think of lots of little islands--they are all actually joined...Consciousness is not a "gift" from some "sky god"--Consciousness IS YOU. The Galactic Branch of Universal Core Consciousness awaits your awakening. Prove your wakefulness by throwing off life-denying psuedo-myths and respect CONSCIOUSNESS

So, WOULD THE POPE/CHURCH OPPOSE THE ABORTION OF A GAY FETUS????

This again begs the question - why is the "Holy See" allowed to even observe the United Nations? The Vatican is a church and has no business being involved in anything politically based. They need to be thrown out of the United Nations - permenantly - and the media needs to stop covering their opinions on anything (as no one really cares).

"So, WOULD THE POPE/CHURCH OPPOSE THE ABORTION OF A GAY FETUS????"

nice life.

the church was incorrect because they should want the people to survive so they can receive true life. they did not ok the penalty, they did not comment! they do not hate gays- official doctrine states that people with homosexual intent should be celibate.

however, for people who think that gay marriage is a civil right

a. civil rights are determined by what you are, not what you do. gays are not born gay (nobody is gay...see c). when schoolboys hold hands, it is not because they like each other, they are friends. it seems in our overly sex-perverted world even simple acts like this are perverted. (the worst part, is when people who aren't gay that enjoy feminine things are twisted into believing they are gay by everyone around them, because it just fits, right?)

b. marriage is not a civil right (and besides, the point of marriage was to legitimize your relationship under God. so, 1) if homosexuality is a sin in the Christian faith why would a priest legitimize it?
2) if you just get married by a non-priest it isn't true marriage anyway- that means anyone, gay or not

c. finally, homosexuality is perversion. if you disagree, look at incest.

why is this perversion? because it is based on our moral code (which in western civ was determined by the Christian faith, but slowly eroded).

cant two people of the same sex be in love?
cant two people of the same family be in love?

that's a perversion of the family relationship, mere fetishists!
that's a perversion of the male relationship, mere fetishists!

how about bestiality?

i was born this way!
i was born this way!

'well, both of those other two are just sick-and besides, its not the same!'

depends on where you get your morals...

so where do you stand: on your own ground, made to benefit your own choices, or on a path laid and maintained for the length of our existence?

p.s. even if i were wrong about gays, keeping to yourself is not impossible. the way men obsess over women (& vice versa) is just as wrong and just as harmful. the sins of man will bring them to the grave all the same, be they molesting a child (cough cough priesty) or carrying out sexual deviance.

If homosexuality is perversion then most animals will go to hell. And, seeing as dogs will hump human legs always and forever, sexes being irrelevent, this should probably count as bestial homosexual 'humaniality', and it will have been nature's, and therefore God's (if you believe in that dude) doing. Let's cut the crap.

Homosexuality is love and attraction between two people, and there is nothing wrong with that. How is that related to abuse or beastiality? It has existed always and forever. Before Jesus was even born. Men have fallen for men and women for women since the dawn of time. And before we even evolved into homo sapiens-sapiens. (Resisting the urge to throw in the 'we were homo before we were even homo' joke)

Beastiality can not be found in nature. Birds don't f*ck bees. And I find it wrong because it can have no mutual emotional basis, no mutual consent, no mutual understanding, and no mutual acceptance. It is something different in every way compared to consenting homosexual love, and even the fact I have to state the obvious in a site like this one is creeping me out.

Back to the initial article. Yeah, well, the church has been one of the most powerful mechanisms of power, dominance, conservation and cotrol in the history of humanity. It is obvious that any step taken towards the creation of a free and equilitarian society, where an opressive religion will no longer be needed, will not find the Pope agreeing.
