"Tribadism" has historically been used as a definition for lesbian sex. As of late the term now refers to a scissoring sexual position in which two women stimulate one another.

Actually thats not entirely true. "Scissoring" is only one type of Tribadism where the girls 'bump uglies' by intertwining their legs like to open pairs of scissors. There are many more Tribadism positions such as missionary, cowgirl, doggy style, students and standing. Therefore, saying the scissoring is synonymous with tribadism is misleading.
