The Human Rights Campaign has listed their annual publication called "Buying for Equality" which helps consumers identify which companies are supportive of the LGBT community.
According to a Witeck-Combs/Market Research.com study, the buying power of the LGBT community is estimated to be $759 billion in 2009.

its all about the money when it comes to HRC, how much money they gave hrc to list them in that publication
I am not a fan of HRC or Joe Solomonese but the guide does have some value. Granted, there are tons of businesses listed I would never support on there regardless of their ranking but it does provide a useful resource with regards to some categories. HRC is not Greenpeace so I don't expect them to be ranking based on environmental practices anymore than I would expect PETA to rank on LGBT issues. That being said I wish HRC would actually be for an inclusive ENDA. We can take the good from every organization, and criticize them for what we don't like.
