Support Martha Coakley for U.S. Senate

The off-season election to replace the seat of the late Massachusetts Senator Ted Kennedy is currently taking place. Democrat Martha Coakley is running against Republican Scott Brown and the decision is a clear one for those who support LGBT equality.

The Republican contender is on the record opposing marriage equality and gay families:

"Brown believes that marriage should be between a man and a woman. In 2007, Brown voted in favor of a failed effort to place a proposed constitutional amendment on the statewide ballot that sought to ban additional gay marriages" (Daily Kos).

He also weighed in on state Senator Cheryl Jacques and her domestic partner having children, and said "it was not normal for two women to have a baby"

Martha Coakley has a stark difference of opinion when it comes to LGBT equality.

As Attorney General she filed a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of the Defense of Marriage Act. She is a 'fierce advocate' and supports marriage equality, ending Don't Ask Don't Tell, and combating hate crimes based on sexual orientation and gender identity.

Barack Obama is now officially the president of the United States of America. The celebrations continue, and the excitement can still be felt throughout the nation. That being said, the president faces tough challenges ahead.

Sarah Palin Supports Federal Marriage Amendment

In an interview with the Christian Broadcast News, Sarah Palin was asked about whether she would support a federal constitutional ban on same-sex marriage. She said they "instituted a ban on gay marriage in Alaska and that she would like to see that happen nationally". Ironically Sarah Palin goes on to say that she is not in a position to judge others, and just wants to express her point of view. It is neither an expression nor a lack of judging others when you systematically deny over 1,049 rights and benefits that come along with marriage equality.

Activist Tip: Tell Your Friends/Acquaintances to Vote NO!

Okay this will take a few minutes of your time and can make all the difference! Open your address book, your facebook, myspace, or any social networking website you have. Do a regional search and find those in states with anti-gay referendums and tell them from your heart why they should vote against those ballots. Studies show someone who knows someone LGBT or an ally is much more likely to side with equality.

So tell your friends in California to vote NO on proposition 8 which eliminates the right of same-sex couples to marry.

Tell your friends in Arizona to vote NO on proposition 102 which bans same-sex marriage, it already is illegal in Arizona!

Tell Floridians to vote NO on proposition 2 which eliminates same-sex marriage, civil unions, and domestic partnerships (even for heterosexual couples).

Tell those in Connecticut to vote NO on initiative 1 which brings into session a constitutional convention.

Bob Barr for President - Gay & Lesbian Words Banned

In response to a Bob Barr for president blog entry that stated that John McCain is possibly bipolar when it comes to the issues.

I responded asking if Bob Barr was bipolar and discussed his former position against same-sex marriage for gays and lesbians. Well apparently the Bob Barr site doesn't like the words, "sex", "gay", or "lesbian".

Not surprisingly "queer" made it through, although since this post they now banned that word as well.

Here is how the text showed up before moderator approval (Since that time the post has not been authorized and has been deleted).

You voted for the “defense of marriage act” to ban same-*** marriage equality throughout the country, and now say marriage is a states issue and nobody has the right to discriminate. You tried so hard to discriminate against *** and ******* couples. You will never get my vote, to me you are a bigot, plain and simple.

Sarah Palin - "People Choose to be Gay"

Sarah Palin in an interview with Katie Couric of CBS Evening News had the following to say about homosexuality.

"As for homosexuality - I'm not going to judge Americans and the decisions that they make in their adult, personal relationships. I have - um - one of my absolute best friends for the last thirty years who happens to be gay - and I love her dearly. She is not my gay friend. She is one of my best friends, who happens to have made a choice that isn't a choice that I have made."

And this woman wants to be our vice president? Can I get a HELL NO?
