Word of the Gay: "Lipstick Dyke"

"Lipstick Dyke" is a variation of the more popular term lipstick lesbian, one who presents in a stereotypically feminine way.

I thought so as well, but there are many forms of gender bending out there.

I tend to find the term 'dyke' to be somewhat offensive and adding lipstick to it doesn't change that. Nah...I'm not really feelin' it!

Well, I have described myself as a 'glamma dyke' in the past - is that better?

I quite like dyke as a word. However I;m relatively femme-looking and what DOES offend me is when I use the word dyke to apply to myself and (straight) people tell me I'm being hard on myself, like I just called myself a pervert!
Lipstick dyke to me would suggest a particularly assertive, professional looking woman. Short hair, trouser suit, stark make up, no bullshit, where lipstick lesbian would be more full on femme. I particularly like glammadyke. Using that!

I don't like the word Dyke, but I like Lipstick Lesbian.
