Word of the Gay: "Gay"

You can't have "Word of the Gay" without the word "Gay" hehe. So why not? "Gay" is an adjective that refers to homosexuality. The word has been used as an umbrella term for the LGBT community, sometimes to describe both same-sex oriented men and women, and as of more recent just refers to homosexual men.

The word "Gay" has also been used disparagingly to refer to people or objects as stupid or lame.

You would have gotten a kick out of tonight's "Jon Stewart's Daily Show"... Did you happen to see it? Jason Jones did a spot where he interviewed this (doofus) who wrote a book on how to be happy. And he said we need to "take back the word gay". It was hilarious.

Gay works for me because most str8 people seem to understand it means I love a woman. I had a co-worker on other side of tall cubicle who went on a rant one day about how "we" (I was very out) had no right to take way that word from her. I wanted to offer a good word for her, but kept quiet. LOL

I love that word. Love it love it love it. I don't know why, but I just have this attraction to it. Which makes me angry when people use it in a negative term, like you mentioned in the blog post.

I will then bring it up and then people call me the PC police. I mean, honestly...
